The Chico Mothers' Club Offers a number of different activities for it's members. We try to offer a balance of activities for kids, moms, and families. Some of these activities happen on an irregular basis. If you are a CMC member and are interested in any events that is not currently scheduled, please let us know.
Monthly Social
The CMC meets once a month. Each social is an opportunity to meet one another and to participate in scheduled events such as guest speakers or other group activities.
New Member's Meet & Greet
This is a bi-monthly social to welcome new member's to the club. At this social new member's can pick up there new member packet or CD, get to know other member's and even join CMC. All member's and their children are welcome to come and get acquainted.
Playgroups
Playgroups consist of 5-7 moms with children that are close in age. Groups meet once a week at a day and time that works for the members of that group. Infant groups often meet at each others homes while preschool groups often rotate parks and other fun places. The small group atmosphere and weekly get-togethers can become a great source of support and friendship for both the moms and the kids.
Park Days
Park days are scheduled almost every week and open to everyone. It is an informal time for parents and kids to spend time together at the park.
Craft Days
Craft days are scheduled when someone offers to do it. They are either at a park or at someone’s home. They usually include a simple craft project that even young ones can do.
Stroller/Toddler Skating
Stroller/toddler Skating is on the calendar about 4-5 times a year at Cal Skate. It is a special preschool skate they put on from 9:30-10:45 (also open to the public). They give a mini lesson first and then have open skating for about 30 min.
Bumper Bowling
At the bowling alley there are a few lanes that have “bumpers.” This allows little ones to bowl without the balls going in the gutter. Also, there are light balls made for little ones to use, and for those that can’t roll the ball, there are ramps. It really is fun and not just for the big kids!
Pool Days
Just another location to get moms club people together. The pool days are either at PV pool or Shapiro pool during their recreational swim hours.
Nature Center trip
The Chico Nature Center provides great information about the natural world in and around Chico. The CMC does not go to the Nature Center on a regular basis, but playgroups meet there sometimes. They also give tours and talks.
Sacramento Zoo trip
This trip usually happens about once a year.
Fire station visit
This outing usually happens when people start requesting it. In the past, CMC has gone about twice a year. We have visited a few different stations in the past. Most recently, Fire station #5 because it is brand new and it has a “fire pole”.
University Farm trip
Once a year the CMC goes to the Chico State University Farm. It is usually in spring when there are baby pigs and calves.
Ice Cream Shop
During the summer months there is a scheduled trip to the Ice Cream Parlor about once a month.
Business tours
Periodicaly, we have tours of businesses to see how products are made or things are run. For example, we’ve had tours to Safeway, Krispy Kreme, UPS, the Police Station, Ben & Jerrys, the Jelly Belly Factory and Bakeries.
Orland train ride
CMC does this about twice a year. Bring your lunch and have a fun time.
Pumpkin Patch
Every October the CMC schedules a trip to the Book Family Farm where kids get to pick pumpkins, take a wagon ride and see lots of animals.
