September 2010 Activities

The Chico Mothers' Club offers a number of different activities for its members. We try to offer a balance of activities for kids, moms, and families each month. Some activities happen every month, others are seasonal or special one-time events.   CMC members will often plan events for the club and put them on the calendar or send an invitation to the Yahoo list.  Below is a list of the events planned for September.  If you would like the specifics for any event, you can check the Yahoo list for the specifics.  If you are not a member but these events look interesting, get your membership form in ASAP and join us!  In addition, we include an "Around Town" calendar for family friendly events in Chico and the surrounding area!

Monthly Member Social

The CMC meets once a month.   The socials vary each month and September's should be great - Red Tavern for lawn bowling, socializing and food and drink.

Bunco

Bunco games are played once a month.  Bunco is a simple dice game that offers great fun, prizes and socializing.   Bunco groups consist of 12 players and the club usually has one or two groups going.  Each person in the group hosts once a year.

Book Club

The CMC has two active book clubs that meet once a month.  One group focuses on the classics and one is a member's choice each month.  This group is a great way for readers to meet one another, enjoy a night out and talk about books!

Playgroups

Playgroups are organized by age of the child.   The groups meet once a week at a day, time and place that works for the members.   Infant groups often meet at members' homes, while preschool groups often rotate going to parks and other fun places. The groups are a great source of support and friendship for both the moms and the kids.   For more information you can visit our playgroups page.

Peach Picking at Chico State's Farm

Join us for a fun morning of picking your own delicious peaches at the Chico State Farm!

Skating

Pre-school skate for strollers and toddlers.  Mini-lesson and then open skating.

Play n Lunch

We'll meet downtown for some play, then grab lunch at a local eatery together.  Dads are welcome - its a family event!

Jamba Juice Tour

Tasty tour of a local Jamba Juice!

Mom's Night Out

Join other moms for some much needed me-time!  This month's night out will be at the brewery and members can come for drinks only or drinks and dinner!

Upcoming Events

Halloween Party - October 2010

Holiday Party - December 2010

Past Events

Bumper Bowling

At the bowling alley there are a few lanes that have “bumpers.” This allows little ones to bowl without the balls going in the gutter. Also, there are light balls made for little ones to use, and for those that can’t roll the ball, there are ramps. It really is fun and not just for the big kids!

Pool Days

Just another location to get moms club people together. The pool days are either at PV pool or Shapiro pool during their recreational swim hours.

Nature Center Tour

The Chico Nature Center provides great information about the natural world in and around Chico. The CMC does not go to the Nature Center on a regular basis, but playgroups meet there sometimes. They also give tours and talks.

Sacramento Zoo Trip

This trip usually happens about once a year.

Fire Station Visit

This outing usually happens when people start requesting it. In the past, CMC has gone about twice a year. We have visited a few different stations in the past, most recently, Fire station #5 because it is brand new and it has a “fire pole”.

University Farm Tour

Once a year the CMC goes to the Chico State University Farm. It is usually in spring when there are baby pigs and calves.

Ice Cream Social

During the summer months there is a scheduled trip to the Ice Cream Parlor about once a month.

Orland Train Ride

CMC does this about twice a year. Bring your lunch and have a fun time.

Book Family Farm Pumpkin Patch

Every October the CMC schedules a trip to the Book Family Farm where kids get to pick pumpkins, take a wagon ride and see lots of animals.

Mom's Retreat Weekend

2008 we went to Fort Bragg for 3 days. We’ve also had overnights at a nearby hotel to scrapbook, talk, and play games.

Couple's Night Out

This event is for moms and dads to get together with other couples. Usually consists of dinner and an activity. We’ve done dinner and bowling, dinner and laser tag, dinner and a movie.

Dad's Night Out

In past years, several dads organized Dad’s Poker Night, Dad's Paint Ball and Golf.
